Italian Homophobia On Display.
The far right take over of Rome is having effects on the LGBTQ members of Italian society who are now treated as unequal in adoption laws. The political winds have shifted in Rome and many cities are now following suit by falling in line to limit the parental rights of LGBTQ parents. Many are hoping these homophobic laws remain in Italy and do not spread to other areas of the continent. The public has yet to weigh on on these changes with the ultimate barometer being the next election cycle of course. Sadly, many gay adoptive parents are now stuck in legal limbo with a long fight and a bureaucratic mess ahead of them to be recognized as their children’s legal parents.
