The State of Oregon may be a leader in decriminalization of drugs other than marijuana. If South Dakota can vote to decriminalize marijuana then anything is possible. Along with just decriminalization comes a chance to institute racial justice as a component of drug policies. Additionally, the government has greater opportunities to reach addicts and steer them into effective treatment programs to help prevent downward spirals when the criminalization component is removed which is good public policy.
