The President will lift the homophobic transgender ban instituted by Former President Trump. (CNN)
“The policy, which has been roundly derided by LGBTQ activists as cruel and irrational, was first announced by Trump in July 2017 via Twitter. The ban specifically blocks individuals who have been diagnosed with a condition known as gender dysphoria from serving with limited exceptions. It also specifies that individuals without the condition can serve, but only if they do so according to the sex they were assigned at birth.

President Biden has begun the long an laborious task of un-Trumping America. The LGBTQ population was key to Pres. Biden’s election and he is choosing to do what is right as one of his first orders of business. Ensuring gay and transgender people are full citizens of the United States is very important to this Administration which is a total U-turn from the Trump years. We now have an ally in the Oval Office which is such a refreshing change of pace.
