Republicans On Cusp Of Taking The House With 1 Seat Majority.

Republicans registered a series of big wins Monday night that all but guaranteed their House majority, even if it is increasingly looking like it will be a very slim win. In Arizona’s 1st District, GOP Rep. David Schweikert narrowly defeated Democrat Jevin Hodge, while Republican Juan Ciscomani, a longtime aide to Gov. Doug Ducey, beat out Democrat Kirsten Engel in the open 6th District.

Races were also called for Republicans in California, with Rep. Michelle Steel and Rep. Ken Calvert both winning in their Southern California districts. Republican Brandon Williams also won an open seat in a swing district in the Syracuse area of upstate New York.

The GOP had a disastrous 2022 midterm election that will go down in the history books. The only consolation is the razor this 1 seatish majority they have in the US House of Representatives but the GOP fully expected to have 50 plus seat majority. The Senate is a lost cause for them and will remain in Democratic control. Nevertheless, the GOP will have more of an opportunity to stymie the legislative agenda put forth by the Biden Administration and strong leadership on both sides of the isle will be needed to pass bi-partisan legislation and wade through the newly formed rocks in the road.
