Back To Normal By The Fourth of July?

President Biden proposed a goal of being back to somewhat normal by July 4th if everything goes right. (NY Times)

President Biden
Getting people to do what they need to in the meantime — including getting vaccinated — is now the name of the game. But Biden sought to at least give them a holiday they can look forward to and hope to celebrate in a manner that’s somewhat familiar, while also making clear, repeatedly, that it will be a celebration that needs to be won.

Normalcy is what American is desperately wanting with a full year of near constant panic attacks. The United States has been hobbled by the virus but now has the opportunity to emerge triumphant and finally tackle the disease through competent leadership that places scientific consensus at the center of all decision making. Without competent leadership that takes governing seriously there is no way to effectively combat the virus in any meaningful way. The Biden Administration in and of itself is a return to normal.
