Twice as many Covid-19 cases are in the United States as India, the next most infected country, and with a surging virus the count is likely to grow rapidly. The 20 million number is a grim reminder that on the first day of 2021 the pandemic is showing no signs of abating and is actually exploding in many areas of the nation, especially California. With a President that has no patience for dealing with this stubborn virus, the nation is left turning to state and local officials for help disseminating the desperately needed vaccines. So much more could have been done to stem the tidal wave of Corona cases but there was no willingness to act at the federal level and thus a shoddy virus response was all that could be mustered.
