85% Of World’s Population Will Be Impacted By Climate Change.
A new study offers a dire prediction for number of people who will be impacted by climate change. (The Hill)
“A new study estimates that about 85 percent of the world’s population could be seeing climate impacts.
Researchers used machine learning to map out an estimated 100,000 studies of climate-related impacts and combined their analysis with data on human-caused changes in temperature and precipitation.
They found there are temperature or precipitation trends that are at least partially attributable to human-influenced climate change visible on — excluding Antarctica — 80 percent of the world’s land, where 85 percent of its people live
”
Climate change is real and the cost of inaction to stem the devastation is steep but of paramount importance. If we do nothing and allow the climate to continue to warm at the current rate- humanity will face grave consequences that result from floods, droughts, crop failures and could destabilize nations around the World. If the World is serious about stopping the climate change crises it could be halted but many nations are hesitant to commit to reducing emissions in fear of economic consequences.
