America’s armed militias are illegal and must be taken more seriously or riots and attempted coups will become commonplace across the landscape. The Trump Administration adroitly harnessed the conspiratorial bent of these groups and whipped them into a frenzy that ultimately ended in the seditious riot at the United States Capitol Building. The fervent right wing base that composes the militias and the MAGA movement is not going anywhere and they will continue their efforts to overturn elections with military style force. This cannot continue.
