Fed. Judge: Why Are DC Rioters Getting Off So Easy?
Glen Turpening
A Federal Judge is concerned by the slaps on the wrist that many of the January 6th rioters are receiving from prosecutors. (Politico)
The Capitol riot must be dealt with in an appropriate manner that means punishments must fit the crimes. Misdemeanor charges are not going to fly when the criminals tried to overthrow the government of the United States. Additionally, the Judge is concerned with the paltry restitution the rioters are paying to help rectify the damage they caused. The Insurrection caused $500 million in damages and thus far the people who caused this melee are not paying their fair share.
