The Republicans decided that going down in history as unbiased jurors was not as important as making sure Trump did not back a primary challenger in their district. 10 Republicans, including freshly minted Rep. Meijer, son of billionaire supermarket magnet, chose to vote for impeachment and clearly go down on the correct side of history. If Trump is completely hobbled by the insurrection and unable to garner the same level of support in the Republican Party then their vote based on primary fear was all for naught. History will not be kind.
