an active coal mine
To some degree, Mr. Trump was defeated by powerful market forces, primarily, low natural gas prices that made coal a less attractive fuel for power plants and the increasing economic viability of renewable energy sources like solar and wind. Perception is alway more important than substance as the article correctly points out with this Administration. It is not important that the coal jobs the Administration hung their hats on bringing back have not come back but in fact declined. Just putting it out in the universe that he is the person who WANTS to bring the coal jobs back is good enough for his supporters even as the coal region falls further into an ecomonic abyss.
