The GOP will have to reconcile their extreme allegiance to former President Donald Trump and the new realities of being a minority party in Washington DC. Fmr. President Trump, even without Twitter continues to control large swaths of the GOP primarily though his rabidly loyal fan base and threats of primary challenges. Liz Cheney made her vote in line with what a reasonable person would do in her circumstances with the evidence she had before her. The ultimate test will come in the following weeks when the Senate votes to convict Trump for inciting the insurrection at the Capitol. His grip on the party may be slipping.
