The Texas Go It Alone Power Grid Not So Powerful.
A winter storm brought the Texas power grid, a grid removed from the rest of the nation’s power grids, humbly to its knees.
The self reliance the State of Texas likes to project crumbled in grand fashion this week when power, the most common currency of modern society, was cut off. As the article above points out, very simple solutions like weatherizing equipment could have dramatically reduced the disastrous consequences of the recent arctic blast. The nation must get serious about energy policy and what it means for our future and how we can better maintain a consistent power flow. Otherwise, our adversaries will capitalize on our power weaknesses to our detriment. What that would look like I cannot even imagine, but its a scary thought.
