Red Wave In Nov? Could More Of A Splash.

Democrats are feeling more optimistic about their chances retaining the Senate in November going against some extremely hard right GOP opponents. (The Hill)

Democrats are growing increasingly optimistic about their chances of holding the Senate this year amid a spate of favorable public polling and signs that some of the GOP’s top candidates are struggling to get their campaigns off the ground.

To be sure, Democrats have zero margin for error. The Senate is split 50-50 and any misstep or error — forced or unforced — could hand Republicans the majority in November.

Mitch McConnell has warned that the GOP has nominated some candidates of questionable quality which is dimming their hopes for a GOP red wave in November. The House is still likely to switch into a GOP controlled chamber but the Senate is of primary concern as Donald Trump continues to exercise extraordinary control over the party and many of the candidates he endorses go on to win. In the mean time, all eyes in Washington will once again be turning to the Jan. 6th hearings after the summer recess and the role those will play in coming elections.
