The national security package is designed to appease wary conservatives within the House GOP — and stave off potential threats of an ouster.”
Circles of chaos keep the GOP on their toes, just when the dust settles the rules allow another Speaker to be cast aside on a whim. Speaker McCarthy was forced to put these simplistic guidelines into place to secure his position as Speaker of the House, a role he coveted more than anything. His successors now must live under these rules as well and it leads to an atmosphere of ephemeral Speakerships that can be tossed at a moments notice.
