Debt Ceiling Negotiations, No Resolution Anytime Soon.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy left a White House meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday afternoon saying they had a “good conversation” but made “no agreements, no promises” in regard to the debt limit.

The California Republican reiterated his position that he wants to lift the debt limit in a “sensible, responsible” manner “but not continue this runaway spending.”

McCarthy said he and Biden left the meeting promising to continue the conversation. “I think at the end of the day we can find common ground. I really do,” he said.

The United States debt limit has been reached again and now an intricately choreographed play ensues with well rehearsed rolls but, ultimately the ceiling will be raised. No member of Congress wants to be responsible for delaying grandma’s Social Security check that she now desperately clings to pay her ever increasing inflationary adjusted bills. Despite all the tumult that accompanies these negotiations, the World still looks to America and our Dollar for a sense of security and stability. Hopefully this latest round of debt ceiling shenanigans won’t endanger our venerated status.
