The Feds Next Immigration Target: Chicago.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) on Sunday said that hundreds of Texas National Guard members were headed to his state and Oregon and labeled it “Trump’s Invasion.”
“This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate,” Pritzker said in a thread on the social platform X Sunday night.
“We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops,” he added.
In a post responding to Pritzker, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said that he’d “fully authorized the President to call up 400 members of the Texas National Guard to ensure safety for federal officials.”
“You can either fully enforce protection for federal employees or get out of the way and let Texas Guard do it,” he added. “No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard.” (The Hill) BY TARA SUTER
The immigration crackdown has spilt an already divided America even more. Many businesses around the country have seen a dramatic drop in foot traffic as more people in immigrant heavy neighborhoods stay indoors in fear of being detained if they leave their home. Business leaders are not in favor of such a large crackdown but it plays to the President’s base so the raids will continue.
