Meager Jobs Report: Pandemic Still Has Firm Grip On The Economy

The economy added a paltry 49k job in January which proves the Covid Economy is still here. (NY Times)

U.S. employers added 49,000 jobs in January, the Labor Department said, dashing hopes that the new year would bring immediate relief. The private sector added just 6,000 jobs, barely enough to register against the millions of positions lost during the pandemic.

The United States will be suffering from the lack of executive leadership early in the pandemic for many years to come. The trillions and trillions of dollars necessary to dig out of the economic ditch could have been used for so many other necessary societal improvements. Say roads, America’s roads are crumbling and need trillions of dollars in routine upkeep and repairs. Unfortunately those dollars have to be spent elsewhere to prop up our fragile, pandemic ridden economy.
