Tampa Told To Evacuate.

Hurricane Milton is barreling towards Western Florida and residents are told to flee for their lives. (CNN)

Dangerous Hurricane Milton has started to grow in size this morning as its strength fluctuates. The bigger Milton gets, the farther from its center its damaging winds will reach.

Milton’s tropical storm-force winds extended about 80 miles from its center most of Monday, but its wind field grew to just over 100 miles this morning.

“Milton is still a relatively compact hurricane, but the wind field is expected to continue to grow in size as it approaches Florida,” the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday. “The official forecast shows the hurricane and tropical storm-force winds roughly doubling in size by the time it makes landfall.” From CNN Meteorologists Mary Gilbert and Allison Chinchar, CNN.com

The climate is clearly changing and the storms are becoming more intense and causing more destruction. Many people continue to deny a change is taking place and are resigned to sticking their heads in their head in the sand hoping it all works out. Things are clearly not working out and Florida is a prime example of a State at a crossroads with an uncertain future. People have to insure their homes but many parts of the Sunshine State are becoming uninsurable which does not bode well for the its future or the residents who live there. Milton is just the latest, many, many will follow.
