The Olympics are set to commence against the grim backdrop of the massive global Coronavirus Pandemic which is far from over and continues to upend the lives of millions of people. The ability to host a successful Olympiad will depend on Japan’s ability to ensure the Olympic athletes and spectators are relatively safe and mass gatherings are kept to a minimum.
