Biden Is Getting His Own Opportunity To Shape The Federal Judiciary.

A wave of retirements and departures will allow President Biden a bite at the apple of helping mold the makeup of the Federal Judiciary.

A growing number of federal judges have announced their departures in the weeks since President Biden was sworn in, giving the new administration an early opportunity to start making inroads into former President Trump’s success at filling the judiciary with conservative judges.

There are currently 57 vacancies in the federal district and appellate courts and another 20 seats that will become vacant in the coming months. At least 25 of those vacancies were announced after Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

President Biden will try his best to take advantage of the razor thin Democratic majority in the Senate that could very easily flip in 2022. There is a possibility it could flip even before 2022 if a Senator passes away or even switches parties which has happened before. President Biden will need to conjure up all of his political capital and with a little luck he can put a serious dent in the avalanche of extreme right leaning judges that Donald Trump appointed during the last 4 years. Wish him well.
