“New reported infections fell by 21 percent over the past week, with the most recent seven-day average coming in at just over 54,400 cases per day, Walensky said, calling the figure “a really hopeful decline.” Hospitalizations also fell by 9 percent, with an average of more than 5,100 hospital admissions per day over the past seven days.

The Biden Administration’s competence is starting to bear fruit with signs the pandemic may finally be somewhat under control, at least in this country. Through continued efforts to put science first, it is plausible that the whole Covid nightmare could be a thing of the past by late summer. Getting everyone and their brother vaccinated is the new hurdle to ensuring the end of the pandemic with pockets of deep resistance to facts, logic and science emerging in various quarters.
