The effort to vaccinate the most vulnerable populations has paid immediate dividends in the drastic reductions of hospitalized older Americans. (The Hill)
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that two-thirds of adults older than 65 have been fully vaccinated, and nearly 81 percent have received at least one dose of a vaccine. Some older Americans with underlying conditions may be unable to receive a vaccine, but the population is nearing a point of herd immunity — at least amongst themselves.

Vaccines work and science is real and that is why so many older Americans are now able to escape the very worst of the most recent Covid surge that has gripped large portions of the country. As vaccine demand begins to fall, it’s even more imperative now than ever to make sure as many people as possible are vaccinated and finally rid the nation of this terrible disease. Public health officials need a full court PR press to emphasize that vaccines work and are safe and effective. Period.
