Capital Rioters on January 6 in DC
At least 52 active or retired military, law enforcement, or government service employees are among the over 400 suspects arrested for their alleged actions at the Capitol, according to an ABC News investigation based on military records, court records, interviews, and publicly available news reports. The arrests include over half a dozen ex-police officers and multiple former elected officials — and represent some of the most significant and violent charges brought in connection with the deadly insurrection.

As one of the experts in the article points out, extremism in the ranks of the law enforcement and the military must be immediately addressed. The integrity of our military and law enforcement depends on ensuring that people who are willing to defend law and order are the only people counted among their ranks. Those willing to incite violence at an insurrection have no place in law enforcement or government bodies and only serve to weaken national cohesion. The aftermath of the Capital Insurrection will take years to sort but those responsible and those who still sit comfortably in their jobs at tax payer expense must be weeded out for the good of the nation.
