Cities across the United States are bracing for protests against the Trump administration this Saturday - the same day President Donald Trump is holding a military parade in Washington, DC, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army. It will coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday.
More than 1,800 so-called “No Kings” rallies and events are planned that day, organized by the 50501 movement under the banner of “a day of defiance.”
The name “50501” means “50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement,” according to the group’s website. “No Kings” represents a rejection of the Trump administration’s sweeping actions since he took office, which the group believes to be authoritarian.
“The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings,” the 50501 website reads. From CNN's Jessie Yeung
Donald Trump’s harsh immigration policies have stirred up a wide range of protests from coast to coast. The heavy handed tactics have cause cities like Los Angeles to go into a sort of lock down in response to the policies. This Saturday will see the biggest protests yet just as Trump plans to have a military parade in celebration of his birthday on the same day.
