Oregon, The First To Decriminalize Small Amounts Of ‘Hard Drugs.’

“Today’s victory is a landmark declaration that the time has come to stop criminalizing people for drug use,” said Kassandra Frederique, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, which was behind the measure. “Measure 110 is arguably the biggest blow to the war on drugs to date.”

Now the challenge will be to expunge the records of people convicted of possessing small amounts of these drugs in the past. Voters maybe less willing to support that measure but attitudes surrounding drugs seem to be evolving rapidly which is a very hopefully sign that change is imminent. The marijuana legalization movement is rapidly gaining steam across the county with even crimson red states like Montana voting to legalize possession of Mary Jane. Change is a coming, quicker than anyone may guess.
