Rep. Boebert Doubles Down On Anti-Islamic Rhetoric.

The Representative from Colorado renewed her bigoted attacks after a tense phone call that abruptly ended. (Washington Post)

“I believe in engaging with those we disagree with respectfully, but not when that disagreement is rooted in outright bigotry and hate,” Omar said. “To date, the Republican Party leadership has done nothing to condemn and hold their own members accountable for repeated instances of anti-Muslim hate and harassment. This is not about one hateful statement or one politician; it is about a party that has mainstreamed bigotry and hatred.”

Rep. Boebert is indicative of the state of affairs in America today. She made blatently homophobic comments and little to nothing is being said or done to even retract the statements nor are they garnering condemnation from other members of her own political party. The idea of exclusion and racist, xenophobic rhetoric is slowly but surly becoming the norm in the political landscape. In order to stem the tide of hate, leaders must take action to set examples and condemn these actions.
