Fmr. President Trump has talked about starting a new political party. Its probably just more hot air designed to give him leverage over the existing GOP. (NY Times)
“In recent weeks, Trump has entertained the idea of creating a third party, called the Patriot Party, and instructed his aides to prepare election challenges to lawmakers who crossed him in the final weeks in office, including Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Rep. Tom Rice (R-S.C.), according to people familiar with the plans.

Donald Trump is master of the ruse. The MAGA Party formation threat is meant to continue his role as the master puppeteer with the Republican his puppets every willing to do his bidding. Those that have crossed him already feel the pressure from new primary challengers that appeared out of the woodwork looking to ride the MAGA wave all the way to the next election. Where or not Trump is still a king maker or even relevant in the next election cycle remains to be seen. Mitch hopes he isn’t.
