Fauci: I’d Wear A Mask In Places With Low Vax Rates.

Anthony Fauci says that he would still wear a mask if visiting an area with low vaccination rates. (NY Times)

Dr. Anthony Fauci
Dr. Fauci is fully vaccinated. But on Sunday in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he told anchor Chuck Todd that in parts of the country with low levels of vaccination and rising coronavirus caseloads, he might “go the extra mile to be cautious enough to make sure that I get the extra added level of protection.”

“Even though the vaccines themselves are highly effective,” he added. Just 36 percent of Mississippi residents have had at least one shot of a coronavirus vaccine.

The nation is trying to get vaccinated but getting the lone holdouts to trust science has been difficult to say the least. Unfortunately, that has left the nation with large gaps in areas that are less likely to trust scientific research and the value it adds to their daily lives. That being said, it is prudent to continue wearing masks indoors when visiting such unvaxed locales like Mississippi or Missouri where the majority of the population does not heed the warnings of health officials and thus choose to put the lives of their fellow citizens at risk.
