McConnell Calls January 6th An Insurrection, Excoriates Fellow GOP Who Say Otherwise.

Senator Mitch McConnell is not buying the spin surrounding January 6th Insurrection being labeled as ‘discourse’.

The top two Republican leaders in Congress were at odds Tuesday over the Republican National Committee’s recent resolution that formally censured GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving on the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, pressed by CNN’s Manu Raju on the RNC’s decision to refer to that day as “legitimate political discourse” in the resolution, said that what occurred on January 6, 2021, at the US Capitol was “a violent insurrection.”

Senator McConnell was aghast at the sight of the Insurrectionists storming the Capitol on January 6th and is making that known. He is speaking his mind in a dramatically altered political environment that seeks to normalize the violence of that day. The Senator is a distinct but vocal minority who probably has many like minded people in his party that are too afraid to come out and condemn the violent attack.
