Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked a sweeping bill to overhaul federal elections, ratcheting up already inflamed tensions over voting rights.

Senators voted 50-50 in the evenly divided Senate on advancing the For the People Act, splitting along party lines and failing to get the 60 votes needed to overcome a GOP filibuster.

The Senate has a well deserved reputation as the legislation graveyard were so many great laws designed to help America become a better nation just go to die. Mitch McConnell, the master politician, will use the filibuster to drive any Biden backed legislation into oblivion, never to emerge from the Chamber and see the light of day. That is exactly they way Sen. McConnell wants the next 4 years to proceed legislatively and no one can stop him with the filibuster threat hanging over the heads of Democratic Senators.
